![]() 2010 ABMC SpecialtyBelgian Malinois 2010 SpecialtyTuesday May 11, 2010 - Sunday May 16, 2010Deb AuerI've been active in purebred dog sports since 1981, when I trained and competed in competitive obedience with an American Cocker Spaniel. I started training and trialing in agility in 1991 with a Pembroke Welsh Corgi who I had previously shown in conformation. He was followed by two more Pems. I continued to compete (sporadically) in obedience, and also trained and competed in herding events with the Corgis, as well as doing therapy work with all three. About nine years ago I adopted a Border Collie from a Border Collie Rescue group, and did both agility and herding with him. I also have a four year-old English Cocker Spaniel, and training her has been a different world from training any herding breed dog! I have dabbled in tracking and flyball, but, because of my current work and college schedule, have concentrated on doing agility for now. I look forward to having time to do more things with my dogs in the future. I judge for other agility organizations and give agility classes for CCTC in Springfield, Illinois. My husband and I live on three and a half acres outside of town and our household includes the Border Collie, the English Cocker, a German Shepherd Dog and my daughter's Australian Cattle Dog. My daughter is away at college, so she trains and runs the dog when she's home and my husband trains the dog when she's away. I really enjoy judging agility trials. No one is rooting for the competitors any harder than I am on each run. I love watching a competitor really nail the course and come out clean. I admire the Belgian Malinois for their athleticism and working ability and look forward to seeing them run my courses! |
