![]() 2010 ABMC SpecialtyBelgian Malinois 2010 SpecialtyTuesday May 11, 2010 - Sunday May 16, 2010Ann Witte![]() Ann's very first dog was an unregistered but purebred Rough Collie she purchased with allowance money in 1949. Later, she bred and showed the Collies and then Shelties. In the 1970s, she handled more than 100 dogs of different breeds to their show Championships as a Professional Handler. In the mid-1980s, she became interested in herding with her Shelties and Beardies. She was instrumental in founding the Great Plains Bearded Collie Club; the most active original AKC Herding Club in the US. Over the years, Ann has served as Chair of the BCCA Herding Committee and Chair of the 2002 AKC Herding Advisory Committee. She has bred or co-bred more than 25 AKC Herding Trial titled Beardies; training and handling about 20 of those personally, including 2 Dual Champions and an import that is her 3rd Herding Champion. Among these are the first 2 Beardies to earn the ASCA WTCH title, and many others with the HX, HI, and HS titles. Ann has been approved to Judge herding events in AHBA and AKC since the mid-1990s. She designed and edited the herding training videos "Getting To Know Ewe II" and "Dancing Sheep To Sheep" produced by the Great Plains BCC. Ann has held herding clinics in the US and many countries in Europe and in Australia for upright breeds.
