We are pleased to have Carolyn Herbel as our conformation and Junior Showmanship judge. She is a well respected judge that has judged Belgian Malinois at numerous all-breed shows as well as a regional speciality.
I am a native-born Kansan, now
living in Oklahoma for nearly 20 years, having successfully raised
animals most of my life. I am married to Norman, and together we have
bred registered Hereford cattle, with particular emphasis on an inbred
strain developed by the United States Range and Livestock Research
Stations. While we were attending the University of Kansas in 1957 we
acquired our first AKC registered dog, a German Shepherd named Tabu; a
name that was to become in future years our kennel prefix. A prefix
that has been carried not only by 112 homebred AKC Lhasa Apso champions
but also German Shepherd, English Setter, Cairn Terrier and Smooth Fox
Terrier champions.
Because of our involvement with
stock we have always admired the herding breeds and when our son, Kent
and his wife, Lori, also became ranchers there was again a need to
obtain herding dogs that were required to be helpmates in the business.
When the AKC showed interest in performance events for the herding
breeds we all entered the arena with full force, with all becoming
herding test and trial judges except me. During those formative times
we were closely involved with Australian Cattle Dogs, German Shepherds
and Border Collies; however, we also appreciated the various other
working/herding breeds. I am the owner and/or breeder of several DC
(Dual Champion) Border Collies that are conformation and herding
champions, breeding them under our stock brand, XP.
We lived in Pennsylvania from 1965
to 1975 and during that time, I had the privilege of exhibiting at 100+
shows a year which gave me a solid educational foundation on which to
build for many breeds of dogs. I am approved to judge all the Toy, Non
Sporting and Herding Breeds and Groups as well as 22 Terriers. Although
I have never owned one of the Belgian breeds I am especially fond of
them and have seen many good ones not only in the conformation ring,
but also at the herding events. I am looking forward to
adjudicating at your American Belgian Malinois Club's 2007 National
Specialty with great anticipation. Thank you for inviting me.
We are pleased to have Sharon Sparks as our Sweeps judge.
Sharon knows and loves the Belgian Malinois.
I
have been a dog lover mywhole life. My first dog was a Springer Spaniel
that I purchased with babysitting money at age 11. Since then I have
earned over 100 AKC titles inconformation, agility, obedience, rally and
herding on Springers, Malinois,Chihuahua and a few ILP rescue dogs. I
wanted a dog that could do it all and in1990 I got my first "show"
malinois. AKC/UKC,U-CDX CH Crocs Blancs SummerAddition
